Welcome to my Public Square!
My name is Scott Seabolt. I am a lawyer, businessman, husband and father. Detroit is my hometown. I graduated from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) in 1993 with a B.A. in mathematics and economics. I received my law degree from Cornell Law School in 1996.
After graduating from law school, I spent 20 years at two BigLaw firms, where I became a partner in litigation. In 2016, I left BigLaw and started a litigation boutique where I am a named partner. Being from Detroit, I grew up in and around the automotive industry. I have represented automotive manufacturers and suppliers throughout my career.
In addition to practicing law, I have developed real estate and built small businesses. I serve on several charitable boards focusing on youth development, sports, education and pro bono legal services. A lifelong Detroiter, I am an avid fan of the Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings. I am married with three children. In my spare time, I enjoy travel, golf, game night and exercise.
On this blog, we will explore a variety of topics primarily at the intersection of economics, law and politics. I started this adventure in March 2025, when I began commenting on legal and political developments on Facebook. After some spirited exchanges, I decided to start this blog. I enjoy a lively exchange, so comments are encouraged. Please like and share.
